Justvordered the $175.00 40oz. wagyu beef dinner. What a gimmick 30 oz of bone and 10 oz of beef and fat. Don't bother going to this rip off. The small order of the side of Brussel sprouts and mushrooms was embarrassing. two forks each with no mushrooms. Chops really is really the worst I have been to. Shocked, used to be a good retaurant. i have eaten here many times over the years and this is a disgrace.

Best Restaurant in Boca Raton!! Much better than Truluck or Abe & Louie's. They pour the wine 1.5 times as much wine as other 2 restaurants listed above. The wine was a better quality also for less $. I had the lump crab meat and shrimp appetizer. it was fresh out of the shell. (Abe & Louie's crab meat appetizer was 1 or 2 days old). My entree was stuffed lobster done perfectly. My dessert was warm chocolate molten cake, raspberries and ice cream. It was delicious. The 3 course dinner was $49 & wine was $12. Enjoy!

Dropped a star because tonight the service was terrrrrrrrrible. 3 hours for drinks and 3 courses, too slow for my liking.

Came here this weekend for a staff party. We had the private room booked and it was decorated beautifully for the holidays. The service was excellent and the staff always had exceptional picks for wines and made great cocktails. The menu for the group was carefully chosen, beginning with a seafood tower of shrimp, oysters, clams, and lobster. I had the tuna tartare for my starter and it was fresh and tasty with a soy ginger drizzle. The Lobster Stuffed Lobster that I had for my main was good, even though the stuffing was a little gooey. My boyfriends Veal Chop was melt in your mouth yummy. I loved the family style sides of creamed Spinach, Corn Hash and french fries. The Onion rings were fabulous. The toffee chocolate pie for dessert was amazing but I was so full I couldn't finish it. Great live entertainment out in the main dining room, maybe a little more for an older crowd or younger folks out on a special occasion date night. The menu is a nice mix of nouvelle cuisine seafood and old favourites that would appeal to almost anyone so it would be a great place to take either your grandmother or your niece.

This restaurant was recommended by the food and beverage manager at the Boca Beach Club so we were expecting good things. We were not disappointed! Excellent food. Impeccable service. We were there with 13 people. Treated very well. We were mixing family, friends and some colleagues. The waiter made great suggestions for good and wine and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were there for a celebration and had a lovely champagne toast. The waiter treated us to some yummy desserts which was a very nice touch. The prices were more reasonable than we expected which was a huge plus! WIll definitely plan to go again.

There is a reason why people say this is the best restaurant in Boca Raton, because it truly is the best! This is definitely, by far one of mine and my families favorite restaurants in South Florida. I am always such a fan when I come here. They honestly treat you like royalty here and I love that they remember your last name and call you Ms. Shaffer throughout the entire night. As soon as you walk in the doors are opened for you. The atmosphere is so elegant, chic, and it feels like such an exclusive type of restaurant and I love it. I love the fact that when they take you to your table they pull your chair out for you and push you in, and then they place your napkin on your lap for you. Thats how you already know its going to be a great experience. It's a shame that not every restaurant can have this type of mannerism and class like they do at Chops. I feel like a lot of servers around the world could learn a lot from the people at this place. Every server that I have ever had at Chops has been so nice and professional and classy. I love the fact that the servers give you your time to sit and talk and relax before ordering anything and they don't annoy you or interrupt your conversations every five minutes. Depending on what you want to drink everything they have is AMAZING. Their Chandon champagne is delicious. Reisling is perfect, their pinot grigio's are light and wonderful, their merlot's are smooth, and literally every type of wine they have is the best. If your in the mood for a cocktail I definitely suggest getting the Gold Digger Martini, it's my absolute favorite, and it has champagne in it. For appetizers everything they have is amazing, but my personal favorite is oysters on the half shell and the ceviche. I don't think I have ever had better ceviche than at Chops. Also I would suggest getting the stone crab claws when they are in season. This is the place to go for stone crabs because they save you the trouble by previously removing those obnoxious shells for you which is extremely nice of them. Their salads are all superb. For your entrees I definitely recommend trying any fish. If you are in the mood for fish this is definitely the place to go. Be sure to either try the Hong Kong fish or the blackened grouper, it will literally melt in your mouth. You want to make sure you get side items to share. All of their sides are delicious, and their asparagus is really good it comes with a hollandaise sauce which is the best! I have also heard nothing but amazing things about their lobster and their meats. Everything they have on their menu is excellent, even their desserts! I really could go on and on about how amazing this restaurant is but it's definitely something you should just see for yourself. Chops is very elegant and the decor is beautiful and they make you feel very special. As we were leaving, we were passing by the bar which seems like such a fun atmosphere and there was this beautiful woman singing and walking around the bar with her microphone, my mom stopped to watch and the lady literally walked up to my mom and was singing to my mom - my mom said 'That was an absolute treat" and it made her night. If I have one suggestion to make its that they teach their valet guys better manners. I noticed that they don't shut the car doors once you get in the car. Not a big deal but its common courtesy I think!

After years of eating at other great Steak houses in Boca, I must say this place is awesome. The service was impeccable, the food was a match for any streak place in South Florida.

An extensive menu in an elegant setting. My wife had added filet mignon which was a splendid piece of meat and I had a well prepared grouper. The service was attentive and the waiter was even willing to ask the kitchen to modify a dish. A WARNING, however....you better bring a bank book because this place is extremely expensive. Pat B

Great food in a warm, elegant atmosphere, where you really feel you are being catered to. In addition to delectable main course entrees, the sides are great. Best sweet potato fries! I am on the Paleo diet and this restaurant allows me to keep my program and truly enjoy a wonderful meal.

This is definitely a crowd pleaser. They have a nice selection of seafood dishes to balance out their meat selection. You must try the flash fried lobster tail, it is delicious!! For sides, I would recommend the corn mash, the mushrooms are really good, and hashbrowns that are fried and clarified butter. And you cannot forget about the lobster Mac and cheese!!! For the meat lover - I recommend getting the pepper steak. The filet mignon sits ontop of a potato confit. Garnished with portobello mushrooms and port braised shallots. Let's not forget the pool of all au poivre sauce that's just so glorious! Finish off with the white chocolate banana cream pie... It's exactly what it sounds like but it's so good!

Update. I was contacted by the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group regarding my 9/15 review. Niko Karatassos was genuinely concerned and attentive to my experience at the restaurant. Furthermore, we had a terrific conversation about Buckhead's commitment to exceptional service. I cannot express to yelp readers how impressed I was that Nick reached out to me, listened to my story, offered no excuse and was only attentive to making sure that my next visit (and the visit of any Chops patron) would meet or exceed my expectation of quality on all fronts. Any organization that takes the time to reach out to have a significant "person to person" conversation, no form letter or impersonal auto-reply email, is to be applauded and supported. Thank you Nick for your call. It's greatly appreciated. Rick

I recently went to Chops for dinner on my birthday and had a wonderful evening! The food was exceptional, particularly the Braised Beef Brisket Ravioli and the Lobster Stuffed Lobster. I can't recommend these dishes enough. I also enjoyed the wine and desserts that I tried, and the restaurant itself was very elegant and inviting. I absolutely cannot wait to go back!

Let me say you have to get the flash fried lobster. The mustard sauce along with their perfect batter makes this dish incredible! Their garlic mashed potatoes are to die for as well. That being said the steak was good and what to expect from an upscale and pricey steak house. I also don't recommend the Mac 'n Cheese, it was just okay. The reason this place gets a 4/5 stars is the ambiance. It's very crowded, extremely loud (to the point you can't even hear the waiter) and some of the staff seems overwhelmed and come off arrogant. I know this is a nit picky criticism but at over $100 a per plate I will lodge it anyhow.

Excellent meal. Stone crab was great as was the rib-eye aged in himalayan pink salt. The steak and sides looked average but the steak was one of the best I've had. I came here based on yelp reviews and pictures. They did not disappoint.

Had an excellent meal here. My husband's filet was cooked perfectly to order and was fork tender. My crab cake was simply delicious lump crab meat. The brussels sprouts were wonderful, and the burata salad was fabulous! Will definitely go to again!

This restaurant is a class act. Please be sure to dress well if you go here. I went about 6ish on a Friday night, and was there during their 4-8 happy hour. They have fried baby lobster tail on the happy hour menu that was delicious! It came with butter, lemon, and some type of cream sauce that was really tasty! A must try! The bar was pretty full with people in ages of 30-40ish on average dressed well. In addition, I had a Cesar salad which they put the anchovies on top for you, but I told them they could hold them back. The salad was okay to me. The lobster bisque soup was interesting as you can order it with or without lobster. Who wants it without? So I ordered it with and they come and put the lobster in the bowl right in front of you and then pour the bisque on top. It was verrrry good but I like my soup hot and it was not, it was warm. It was nice and thick though! Around 7 a band came on with a trombone player and singer. They were PHENOMENAL. They also don't stand in one place as they move around the room. Not too loud, not too soft, good quality sound. Songs varied but definitely old schhol They have a band Wed through Sunday apparently but I am not sure if it is always the same band. Service was on point. Refills were on the table before empty and oh, they give you all types of hot bread including raisin! When I asked where was the restroom, I was walked to it. I must say this is a definite must go back to. My only recommendations are soup should be hotter and beef up the ceasar salad a bit. Not enough to take a star off though- yet. If it happens again, then I will. Parking is a bear, by the way. If you choose to valet the restaurant will validate at the table for you so you don't have to pay to park. I can not speak to the cost as I was fortunate to not have to pick up the check, but I will say guys--you need to be taking your quality dates here for sure!!! It was excellent, excellent, excellent!!!

Went for my father in laws 65th bday. We started at the bar while waiting for my brother in law to arrive. Solid happy hour deals on drinks and food. Had a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. Not the best blue cheese olives I've ever had but still a good value. The crab cake on the other hand was awesome. One of the best crab cakes I've ever had! The tuna tartare was also quite good. We were seated and all ordered from the prix fixe menu, a great deal at $49. I started with the shrimp and crab cocktail. Both were very tasty. For my entree I had the 12oz ny strip. Quality steak, decent char. Had a jordan cab sav which at first i thought was a bit pricey at $16 but that was before I realized it was essentially 2 glasses. Quite a pour! My wife had the Caesar salad and the surf and turf. Her salad was good and the lobster tail was actually just ok for me. I didn't like that it was fried, tasted like a chicken finger. Also tried some of the French onion soup, which needed some salt to get it some flavor. For dessert I had the cheesecake which was great. The molten chocolate cake was ok. All in all I definitely recommend the happy hour and prix fixe. We'll be back for those for sure!

I took 18 customers here for dinner this week. Everything was great but no fifth star because we were not served at the same time. They served the first table but we were 10 minutes after that. We had to ask for another round of drinks and the flash fried lobster that is their specialty was very salty and overcooked. All the people that had steak were raving about their food. The corn Mash was excellent!

The absolute worst service I have ever recieved. We sat outside for 40 minutes before some one brought us menus. I had to go in three seperate times to get them. Unbelievable the worst and then the waiter gives us attitude. Wow hope the food is good

The service was wonderful, the noise level was horrendous as we were seated between 2 large tables. We went there for Stone Crabs and they were very small and very expensive. We left still hungry.

Made the reservation for last night through Yelp/Open table. Very easy. Got a confirmation call from the restaurant before we arrived letting me know they were looking forward to us coming. Nice touch. From start to finish.....GREAT evening. Valet was perfect, Service was GREAT, never had more than a half empty water OR drink in front of me. Food was AWESOME and extremely reasonable. We first started with the seafood tower....very nice. Definitely worth $55. Then, we moved on to the normal dinner.....where they were offering a 3 course $49/deal. WOW. I had the cold crab/shrimp app, then lobster stuffed lobster platter, and finished with the chocolate cake/vanilla ice cream. All three were spectacular and the lobster was more than I could eat. We actually brought some home for my teenage son to devour. The Yelp reviews that I read were all CORRECT. Better than any other restaurant in or around Mizner. Extremely good value, good service, and everything under the sun. Read my other reviews.....I'm very critical. This place gets 5 stars and a return visit as often as I can get there. Well done Management, staff, kitchen, etc... Thanks for a great night.

I was recommend by a coworker to come here for my husbands birthday, and told I had to try their lobster Mac and cheese. Well I don't know if we went on an "off night", but the the lobster Mac and cheese was a joke almost no lobster and didn't even taste like cheese the texture of the dish was off. We did get the Thai calamari which was amazing. However that was all that was amazing. Steak was not cooked to what was ordered and felt like we were rushed. Over all I'd say based off my experience i would tell you it's very over rated for what you pay. It's beautifully decorated on a side note. So three stars it gets.

I had never experienced this restaurant prior to last night, but we will not return and recommend that you stay away. We had reservations and it took over 20 minutes to be seated at our table. The Maitre D and hostess were arrogant and rude and said we should not expect to be seated on time as it is normally very busy on Saturday evenings. Once seated at our table it took another 15 minutes before our waitress came over. She took our drink orders and we continued to wait for our drinks. A different waiter came by 10 minutes after and said our drink order was lost and asked us for our drink selections again. We waited again and while reviewing the menu determined that if our drinks were not delivered in the next five minutes we would leave. We were shocked that the pricey items on the menu had up charges for lobster. Example lobster bisque does not include lobster unless you add the lobster for an additional $8.50. Same for the lobster macaroni...add an additional $8.50 for lobster. Seriously??? Since our drinks were not delivered on time we decided to pack it in and leave. Unfortunately we were not able to even order or taste the food. We are very disappointed in the chaotic unorganized service environment for a fine dining establishment. Don't waste your time with this place.

Well, you know when you hear from people about a restaurant you should try these days, there's a chance it could be a real find, so I went to Chop's last weekend. There were 4 of us, so we had the chance to try many appetizers I had heard about like the onion soup, the salads, the shrimp cocktail, the calamari, and of course the fried lobster chunks. We then shared a couple of 28 oz. Porterhouse's and some lobster tails which were fried? Overall the place was very nice, the food was good, and the service excellent. It wasn't what I would call a steakhouse by any stretch because the Porterhouse's came out de-boned and served sliced on the plates? Where did my bone go? This to me is a definite "No-No". We asked for Med. Rare and they were both overdone a bit and dry. We were all a bit disappointed because the steak had been built up by the waiter. When I asked why they removed the bone in our absence and cut and plated the slices we were told that there wasn't room on the table so they made that decision for us with no regard for who likes the filet side, who prefers the strip side and who might want some of the natural juices that should be on the plate after the steak rests and is then freshly cut? (I can hear the folks at Peter Lugers, Ruth's, Morton's, and Bern's all laughing) We tried the desserts like the lava cake and creme brule as they were the recommended desserts, but the lava didn't flow and the pistachio ice cream was lacking flavor and had no nuts in it? The Creme Brule was very good. All in all I will say it was a nice experience with good service but I guess I had built it up in my mind after hearing some reviewers. OUR steak experience was good, but not for a steakhouse. Our Lobster was good, but not for a lobster house. I can't really say much bad here and thus the four stars, but because each signature item had some issue that could have been improved I can't go 5 stars and actually feel 4 is generous but the overall experience was nice. Chops is a nice place with good food and very good service, but very expensive and not a great value, considering the failure to completely execute on some quality meat and lobster. I guess the rule of thumb should be that when in the mood for steak, go to a steak house. I had a porterhouse for two at Abe & Louis in Boca recently that was far superior, but that may have been because of the stupid decision to take it off the bone, throw the bone away, slicing the steak in advance (drying it out), and giving us a lame excuse for the reasoning. Our fried lobster tails were slightly overdone as well. We could all see the potential at Chop's but for a very high end place with "Big" prices, the execution had a bit of room for improvement.

Food and service were great. It was on the expensive side even with the 3 course price fixe meal. They have a happy hour at the bar, which was too crowded but we'd go back to try. I had the lobster stuffed lobster (which had an additional charge). We went for a special occasion and it made it even more special (until the credit card bill comes).

I had the scallops and risotto; they were good but not exceptional. My husband had the special filet ......again good but not exceptional. The chop salad was very good but we did not like the lobster bisque. The almond praline and berries was good, but Max's grill does a better job. For steaks I would prefer Abe & Louies or Council Oaks. For seafood.....Blue Moon. Service was excellent and overall a nice experience, but you can definitely do better in S. Florida.

My 3rd time at Chops...and every time a great experience! Behind the Hostess station the Bar area complete with tables and a pianist and Sinatra print and make it special. Had a table in front of the bar.. Its Happy hour until 8pm on well Drinks and a different bar menu( I saw sliders etc). The Drinks took forever to come at the bar area from the waiter, the Bread Basket consisted of delicious thin Parmesan cripsy thins, and pumpernickel stuffed with onions, and white bread devoured . Then the hostess quickly seated us in a booth in the lower dining area. One of the guys made a comment that he wouldn't fit when he sat down..I guess its snug for a steak house? Appetizers: Maryland Style Lump jumbo Crab Cake in a yellow mustard beurre blanc..the yellow sauce that covered the plate..the sauce was not all eaten and the Crab cake.. Ive had better. Shrimp cocktail, it was good but not as fresh tasting as I would desire..it had that dirty taste to it. Some of the table had the French Onion soup au Gratin and ate it all must be great. I told them about the warm Spinach salad Table side here..it had roasted pine nuts, mushrooms and onions sauteed its warm and unbelievable! Entrees were the 12oz Filet Mignon you *see in my picture was amazing has a nice char taste to it cooked perfectly...just perfection and Stone Crab Claws 1 1/2lbs Mkt price 4 pieces..came to over 32$ a Claw///very yummy and AMAZING...fresh and perfect. Whole double Breast of Chicken Fresh Roasted filled with selected farmed mushrooms on sauteed spinach, rosemary cream sauce, it was tender. Sides were Truffle Parmesan Fries..they didnt taste homemade and not that "truffley", but they were cripsy and nice parmesan sprinkled all over, and black pepper. The Mack and Creamy White Cheddar was really good the Mac was Fusilli like pieces and the cheese weren't thick. Fresh Corn Mash was roasted corn and had a consistency of a creamed corn dish no kernels , very disappointing and was given back without a Problem. Great Steaks...Great Place...Well Executed.

Chops is beyond incredible. By far one of the best places to eat in Boca Raton. The food is to die for every visit. My husband and I are regulars in the bar area and get the most amazing service. We recommend any steak on the menu! Perfectly cooked to perfection always!

Valet parking was backed up 6 cars deep upon arrival. Our friends were already seated so did not experience any waiting or attitudes listed here. It was really loud but less so where we sat (room with the tiled ceiling ). Our waiter was very nice and proper though it was hard to hear him at times because he was so soft spoken. Had the fried lobster tail as an appetizer which was delicious. My husband had the lobster bisque which was good as well ( not the best we have ever had like at the Capital Grille one) but still good. You can choose to not have the lobster chunks in it. Who would want that? lol The other couple had oysters which they loved. Bread was ok, not warm. Entrees were very good: dover sole prepared table side and plate heated on a portable cooktop for you veal ravioli and steak for the guys. All excellent. Sides were the corn mash (sweet and melts in your mouth) and parm fries with truffle butter. Had a bottle of Etude, one of our faves! You cannot go wrong with that choice -ever. Molten lava chocolate cake with a scoop of pistachio ice cream and another of vanilla was surprisingly good! Espressos for all to end a great night. I would love to come back any time. We left a little after 11 and it was emptying out pretty quickly. Crowd was very mixed: people in their 30s and up to their 70s. People dressed to the nines. others in jeans and polos and then everything in between.

For such high prices, we would expect more out of a restaurant such as this. I took my family to the Boca location for Mother's Day. Many ordered the 3 course meal special for $49. That does not buy a lot. The appetizer was small and poor quality compared to the regular order. The NY Strip was 12oz of grizzle and tasteless meat. I have had the regular Entree- much better. When we complained to the waiter, he gave us a response that all beef has fat. He could care less until tip time. We would not go back to this location again. By the way, stay away from the specials!

Wow.. I will drive to Boca for this. I'm from Miami.. plenty of good steak houses around me, but I think this is my new favorite. I came here for a work dinner, and my client picked the place. I'll tell you why it was so great.. First off, they have a nice outdoor lounge seating area so go ahead and take a seat if you got there super early like me.. Or, go in and grab a seat at the bar. Happy Hour is until 7 and the drinks are perfectly, plentifully, and deliciously poured. Score! I didn't eat at the bar, just drinks there for me, but everyone else was and seemed plenty content. My apple martini (errr two) were pretty delicious! Next, head to the hostess stand and get a table.. the service here is fantastic, from the hostesses, bar tender, waiters, manager.. everyone I came in contact with was fabulous. Am I really still in South Florida? Incredible.. I didn't realize people could be this nice down here (maybe it's because they're a block from the water!) To start.. The bread is pretty good -- I ate the rolls with garlic inside (yum, why didn't I think of that?), and the person I was with ate the one with raisins, which she said was amazing. We then ordered the Caesar Salad and the Flash Fried Lobster Morsels. The Caesar was delicious, perfectly dressed, and surprisingly I really like the touch of anchovy (though you can get it without, it wasn't fishy!). The Lobster morsels were great and came with their own dipping sauces.. Next time I'd do the lobster tail rather than the morsels (less breading). For Dinner, I ordered the filet mignon. I was going to order Rare Plus but they recommended 1 level up because the waiter said they slightly under cook so I went with a Medium Rare.. Holy moly, I ate the whole thing (this never happens). The seasoning and the way they cooked it was absolute perfection. It is honestly, hands down, the best seasoned and cooked steak I've ever had.. I applaud that Chef!! Fabulously crispy and salted outside, great texture with a lovely red center.. Unbeatable. My client had the sea bass which looked amazing.. it came on a bed of cooked spinach. Neither of us left a single bite on our plates (and these were good sized portions!). For the sides we had mushrooms and brussel sprouts. I'm not a big mushroom fan so I didn't even try them, but she liked them. The brussel sprouts were great. Lastly.. Dessert. This seems to be a weak point. We only ordered 1 so perhaps we're not good judges, but based on the fact that we didn't leave a single bite of anything else and left more than half of this means something is up. I was hesitant to order a soufflé here to begin with.. I love soufflés. I can make them at home, and I really only have 2 places where I order them without concern.. Most places toss the word soufflé around way too loosely.. as they unfortunately did here. What they served was a lava cake.. big disappointment, but oh well, not why I came. They have a great happy hour menu with drinks and food, and a great 3-course meal menu ($54). I highly recommend this place and I WILL be back! Thank you Buckhead Restaurant Group for this true gem in South Florida.

Enjoyed the food. I loved the live music, as we were tucked into the bar, having no reservation and looking less upscale and less 80-something than the rest of the guests. It was still quite comfy. The wait staff is completely chaotic. We had a lovely lady whose thick Eastern European accent was not off-putting, but her understanding of English compromised the order a few times, and finally an already overburdened waiter had to step in for her and fix things. I would drop it two stars for the amount of chaos and the price at which they sell that chaos, but the live music was a win, so up one it goes. No WiFi makes it hard to leave reviews, but most of the people dining in there are of the age where they probably use the telegraph machine at the back near the pay phone.

Food was decent. Our friends sent us here for the fried lobster morsel appetizer, saying it's one of the best dishes they've ever had, but both my girlfriend and I were unimpressed. The oysters were good but not shucked at all, and when I asked our waiter, he got quite defensive and pointed out the guy who "shucked every single oyster that comes out of the kitchen." Well I guess shucking is a different process in Florida than the rest of the world, they pry open the shell and serve them as is without cutting the oyster away from the shell. This makes it kind of a chore to eat the oysters and you inevitably lose some of the water/juice. We shared the 12 oz bone in filet and it was delicious. Service was very good. Atmosphere is pretty mediocre, mostly just tables of old Floridians. I found the restaurant to be quite stuffy/hot but we were tucked into a corner where there didn't seem to be much air circulation. Not in any rush to go back but wouldn't be opposed if a friend wanted me to join them.

Mixed review. Ribeye was cooked to perfection and so was Dover Sole. My appetizer of shrimp with crab was good but I was hoping for more than 2 shrimp. Wife's steak was sent back 3x to be cooked more as per instructions (although in fairness the restaurant bent overboard and she was comped for her meal and dessert). Shouldn't take four tries to get it right though for regulars. Desserts are good but real disconnect between kitchen and food for half the table.

This place wouldn't last very long in New York. And our experience was terrible even despite our dinner host being a regular knowing and being attended to by some of the managers Service: 5-10 minutes till approached an introduced by the server. Constant having to waive staff down for water refills. More infuriating as restaurant was uncomfortably warm. Admitted by the staff itself. that there were HVAC issues, Food: B quality at best. Not sure if the steak was prime (although the prices were) but clearly an inferior quality full of fat. Steak tartare was INEDIBLE. Both as to texture and taste. Manager came and inquired and apologized but left it on check anyway. Tells you a lot. Food preparation and delivery: Poorly timed. Meal took forever. And steak was not cooked as ordered so had to go back. Boca deserves better and should not tolerate such second rate food and service

Went there and had a great meal. Flash fried lobster tail as an appetizer - which could also be added to a steak entree - was fabulous. Good quality beef. Service was friendly, and professional. Great wine selection and in a great location in Boca. Reservations required.

Chops Lobster Bar is an upscale dining experience. The decor is warm and inviting with an amber tiled ceiling and dark banquettes. I found it amusing that the Maître D told us what a great table he was giving us when it ending up being in the middle of the room, very close to other diners. Next time I would reserve the much roomier banquettes at the edge of the dining room. We enjoyed the food very much. Was it one of my favorite fine dining establishments? Probably not, but it is better than many other steak houses I have eaten at and is good enough to earn a solid four star rating. I started with with the Flash Fried Lobster Tail. This was an incredible tasting morsel. I just wish there was more of it! Husband started with his usual Caesar Salad. I loved that the salad had a poached egg on top. Husband thought the dressing on top was a little bland. For mains husband ordered the 12oz filet. As far as steaks go, he gave it a four star rating. I ordered the Hong Kong Duo: Scottish salmon and Chilean sea bass with spinach in an Asian broth. I bit into the sea bass and decided to send it back. The sea bass was way too hard and flaky; it was not melt in your mouth, butter soft.... the way really good Chilean sea bass should be. There was no way I was going to settle for mediocre food in this fine restaurant! Our server graciously offered to get me another dish and I chose the Sautéed Scallops with Risotto. This was a great improvement. The scallops tasted very fresh and were not overlooked. The slight saltiness of the scallops was nicely balanced by the sweet sauce it was sitting on top of. The arborio risotto was fairly flavorless. Overall the service at Chops was impeccable. I believe there was a team of three taking care of our table and there was always someone near by in case we needed anything. I also liked the variety on the menu. Although the name of the restaurant is "Chop's Lobster Bar", the place is more like the area's top steak houses. However, Chop's has much more to offer than just steak and lobster. There is a raw bar and many interesting fish entrees to choose from. I can see why this place was packed on Saturday night! Next on my list....the Fort Lauderdale location!

Me and the BF came by for a pre-dinner bev. We were expecting to walk into a very uppity boca type place and while it is a very high class resturant, we came unexpectedly during happy hour. They have a happy hour EVERYDAY (aka my favorite thing ever) from 4-7. Joyyyyyy!!! The bar seats were full but those had lounge type couches and chairs at front that were empty so we got a couple glasses and hung out, outside. I was pleasantly surpised at how busy it was inside and noisy. Bustling with peeps chatting and a musician was setting up. Definitely a place I will do back to but my wallet can probably only deal with happy hour for the time being!

Just awesome. 8 pm reservations...rolled up, said our name, and they wished us Happy Anniversary and showed us right to our table, going past all the people waiting (suckers ) :). From the moment we arrived at Chops our experience was fantastic. A small band playing in the bar, lively ambiance (not a super stuff can hear a pin drop place), and a really cool decor with the wood and subway tiles all over. I'm shall I say 'picky' about where I sit in a restaurant (hey, just want that ideal experience) and they brought us to a perfect spot mid restaurant . Jason our waiter came over and he was a great the entire night. Nice, not too pushy, and recommended some great items. I had their vanilla old fashioned cocktail. Being a fan of smokey old fashioneds, I enjoyed this drink but have had better recently at other bars. Wife has their gold digger drink.....quite tasty if you are into fruity drinks. Jumbo shrimp cocktail $16. 4 shrimp. Two sauces. At $4 a shrimp they were good...meaty....but still just shrimp. Fresh though. Shared a chopped salad per Jason's reco.....gobbled it up. I had their trio sampler. Salmon, Lobster tail, and crab cake. Dear lord yummy. The crab cake was one of the best I ever ever had...hardly any filler and ton of succulent crab. Heck yes. Lobster tail was served with drawn butter that was being heated constantly in it's own little warming dish. Cool (or shall I say 'hot') touch. Jason also brought some hollandaise sauce over for the salmon. My wife had the black grouper and one of the best I ever had (tasted). Ordered the corn mash side and the brussell sprout leave and mushroom side. Ordered the small, and yes, it was small. I guess I'm used to one size sides that come just a bit larger....was I hurting for food? Heck no, so this was ok. Then on the house they gave us any dessert we wanted and we went for the toffee pie. I'm mean seriously, what could be wrong with this? Service was incredible. There when needed, cleaning off tables with that super cool scrapy tool, and was there just the right amount of time. All wearing jackets. Ok, so after dropping $200, this isn't exactly your I go here every night place (although with how packed it was I'm sure there are those folks!), I could go again as soon as the special opportunity arose. Fantastic.

Disappointed in the service tonight. Waited 10 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. Poor selection of Sauvignon Blancs...nothing at all from the Marlborough region. The delicious Chili Lime Calamari and Ahi Tartare saved the evening from being a total loss.

I had one of the best meals of my life here!!! ( I've eaten at A LOT of steak houses). My steaks are usually under cooked or over-cooked ( especially on busy nights). When my filet and spinach came out I had to inspect before sending the waiter off. I cut into the steak and I didn't even need a steak knife! A butter knife would of done the job. The friendly, welcoming staff was just as amazing as the food. We will definitely be back!

I really have very mixed feelings about my experiences here. I've been twice. Once for dinner and yesterday for happy hour. 4 stars for dining experience. 2 stars for happy hour I'll start with dinner. It was excellent. Superb service. Very good steak. I has the filet and my boyfriend a porterhouse. We were happy. Of course - it's expensive but that's expected at a fine steakhouse. Happy hour last night was a different experience. It's like two different restaurants. He food was good - very similar to city fish. We had the burger (great) tuna tower, ceviche, Thai calamari, brisket ravioli, salmon caesar, and clams casino (not good). All but the clams casino was good. Drinks were not that strong though. Tasted more like juice than vodka. What wasn't good was the service. It was terrible! We got there at 5 and no one was there, so being too busy wasn't an excuse. Our server barely stopped by. It took 30 minutes to just order food and we had to get up to ask to order. And we sat 30 minutes with empty drinks. We again had to get up to ask for our waiter to order drinks. Finally my boyfriend, who has been a loyal patron for 10 years and spent a good deal of money on the restaurant side, spoke to the manager about what was happening. She was outraged and she comped the entire check. That was very generous and great customer service. That's was saved the night. However - even with that, we probably won't be back to happy hour but we will be back to chops to eat at the restaurant.

Great date night. Wife had I both had the set menu weekdays M-TH for $49 and drinks separately. Vanilla Manhattan was awesome. Lychee martini was ok - too sweet. By course: excellent chop salad and lump crab/shrimp appetizers. She had the NY Strip, which was perfectly charred and temp, and I had the stuffed lobster. Lobster was great, stuffing was so-so. Dessert - fresh berries and chocolate molten R cake. Berries were by far the best. Chocolate cake was a little dark and bitter. Definitely recommend.

Great steaks but don't discount the fish! Everyone at my table had steak. I ordered the "Hong Kong special. Having just returned from a vacation which included Hong Kong, I wanted to see how this dish measured up. Very very good. Light, fresh, nice broth. Added the rice into the broth and I was a happy camper. Everyone else enjoyed their lobster and steaks. Nice ambience, good attentive waiter. If I have a negative it would relate to the bar. Definitely, if you closed your eyes and listened to the bar staff, you would think you're in some key west biker bar. Total lack of class! Very surprising for such an upscale restaurant where the bill will be upwards of $75-100 per person. It just doesn't fit!

Chops is unbelievable. The service is amazing starting with the hosts and then knowledgeable servers. The Chops Salad and Caesar Salad make it a difficult decision. The dressings are amazing and greens fresh. The bread is amazing. The seafood tower is full and very reasonable - the best deal and I travel throughout the country eating at high end steakhouses. The steak, veal chops are always spot on. The sides amazing. They have specials for a full course but I find the best is ordering off menu. The best!

Did not meet our expectations. "Ceviche" was cooked fish sitting in a dish consisting of primarily chopped vegetables. Lobster roll contained too much mayo. Porterhouse not up to fine steakhouse standards; too much gristle, not cooked to order. Servers not professionally trained. One guest in our party left the table as the entrees were served. The server kept her entree warm. When she returned, she had far too long a wait for her entree to be served. This is unacceptable in this type of establishment. The selection of craft beers is absolutely pathetic. The acoustics make it impossible to have a pleasant conversation during the meal. Hostesses dress inappropriately. Incredibly disappointing overall. Foodies should choose a different steakhouse.

Had reservations for Valentines Day. We did get seated on time and our only thought was, we hope we don't get the same server as last time. We didn't, which was good, but nearby tables did. Drinks were ok but overly sweet. we ordered the Porterhouse medium. It came completely rare and took a long time to come out. The Shrimp and lump crab salad was good however. Overall, not bad, but not that good either.

We had an incredible dinner at Chops while vacationing in Boca Raton! Occasionally when traveling as a tourist, the service is lacking. However, this was certainly NOT the case at Chops. The service exceeded our expectations!! Little touches like a warm welcome and addressing us by our names (Mr. and Mrs.) throughout the meal, made us feel right at home. Lisa, who served us for the evening, was particularly kind and efficient, a joy! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. We especially enjoyed the truffle french fries! ;) The Chops staff was seamless from the time you entered the restaurant, working incredibly well together. Keep up the great work, Boca Raton Chops!

Ridiculously good food. Our table got steaks, wiener schnitzel, tuna tartar, herbed fries, truffled potatoes, and oysters. Everything was absolutely sensational. For my meal specifically, the steak was one of the best I've ever had. I got the Porterhouse for 2 (like a sick degenerate) and bite after bite was pure bliss. That 48 days of dry aging is some serious shit. The steak was juicy, flavorful, well seasoned, perfectly seared, and cooked to a lovely medium rare as requested. Also, the service was impeccable. They were constantly checking to see how things were, though not being too obnoxious about it. They were also very helpful with questions. For example, when someone asked about the Wagyu Kobe strip, the guy went back to the kitchen and brought out a raw one to show us how nice the cut was. Chops is pricey, but you get a lot for the money. I've probably never had a better steak experience than here, and I've eaten at quite a few steakhouses here in NYC. What more can you say? Five stars.

The service was incredible and the food was terrific!! My wife and i went last night and really enjoyed it...we split a chopped salad, I had the filet and she had the sauteed seafood plate. We also ordered a baked potato to split (they're HUGE) and broccoli w/ hollandaise on the side. The steak and seafood were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious!! I made the mistake of ordering little-necks because when they arrived they were raw...literally my mistake since i ordered them off the 'on ice' section. I don't eat raw shellfish so i told the waiter it wasn't his fault and asked him to take them away. He said he could have them steamed if I wanted them cooked. Yay a waiter that actually cares! A few minutes later he returned with a bowl of steaming hot clams with drawn butter...they were awesome! We finished with the best creme brulee I've ever had...it was much deeper than most and allowed for large spoonfuls of the good creamy stuff underneath! Prices were appropriate and within reason...$200 for 4 cocktails, salad, appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 sides, 2 espressos and a dessert.

Love it love it love it! I have gone over a dozen times this year and I always have a wonderful meal. Just let the staff select your wine their taste seems to be the perfect pairing each time. Oh yes did I mention that I love this place? If you need anything just ask they seem to be able to do it. I have lived in east Boca for 3 years and this is by far my favorite staff which makes the food just that much better. Keep up the good work.

Food and service are excellent here, but it's pretty pricey, so be prepared to drop some dough. I recommend the crab claws...they're large, delicious and fresh. The signature deep fried lobster tail (appetizer version cuts them into morsels, with a side of dipping sauce) is very good as well. Steaks are also great. Classic old-school steak and lobster dinner in Boca...good times.

the best meal I have every had in my entire life. The service was impeccable, the food was so fresh and better then fantastic and if i had to critique one thing it would be the children at an adjacent table that were a little too noisy in my opinion (who takes 3 toddlers to such a formal setting?!)

This place is a Hit or Miss. In other words, when they are on, the food is excellent and you will enjoy your meal. However, if they are having an off day, forgetabout it, you will regret visiting. The prices are high, so I would expect a Hit on every visit, but sadly I have had two misses here.

The food is always wonderful and the service top notch! Stone crabs are marvelous-they have a pre fixe menu offered Sunday-Thursday $49 which was excellent -I was please tuts surprised how they didn't skimp on the dessert-the cheesecake slice was huge! Can't wait to go back!!! Check out their happy hour menu too if you have a chance -food is reasonably priced -but get there early to get a seat in the bar.

Pretty nice place, food is pretty good too. 3 course meal, appetizer, main course and dessert for $49 is a pretty good deal considering the quality. I think it's because it's off season. It's similar to Mortons or Capital grille but not quite at the level if them.

This is a fine steak/chop/seafood restaurant that I will definitely dine at again. The tables are spaced well to allow for private conversation and the decor is warm and inviting with dark wood panelling on the upper level. The lower level was not as appealing as the arched tile ceiling reminded me of the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station. As for the service, professional, attentive and unobtrusive. The food was very good with my sautéed lobster tail appetizer light and tasty, the 8 ounce filet mignon perfectly done (accompanied by a light peppercorn sauce) and wild mushrooms delicious. My husband's lamb chops were sizable and very good as were the little neck clams he had as an appetizer. For me, a good bread basket sets the tone and the raisin and nut bread slices as well as the small rolls filled with onions were warm and fresh. My toffee crunch brownie for dessert should have had more toffee crunch but the vanilla ice cream served on top was delicious. The cheesecake looked delicious and that's what I will try next time. Chops is a sophisticated yet unpretentious restaurant. I look forward to future visits.

Good food we did the special for $39.99 I started with the shrimp and lump crab meat appetizer was good shrimp could have been a little larger. For my entree $ 5 extra I got the lobster stuffed with crab meat very good. Dessert was average did the cheesecake and berry sampler. The best part was the bread basket 5 for that!

I saw some reviews mentioning poor service, and I can't disagree more. Our waiter and the assisting staff were extremely attentive without being overbearing. This visit was our first and it was to celebrate our 7 year anniversary. The entire experience was great, but the star of the show was my main course, the Ribeye and a lobster tail on the side. The presentation of the lobster tail was awesome, and the ribeye was cooked perfect. A text book medium rare. The only reason they don't get a 5 is because the ambiance is not great for a younger couple and we were expecting a more lively crowd.

This place is over rated and over priced. Sure service is good it should be. The main dining room was nice. They won't see me again. The experience was so average. I no longer have an interest to try the new sister restaurant on Las Olas.

It will be a long time before I go back. place had a boring happy hour. than waiter told us the specials & came back to take our order but we were not given menus when seated so.....We started off w clams that were supposed to be little necks. they were not little & not cold even though on ice. The clams had a lot of poop in them. yuck! than I had a 2 pound very tasteless expensive steamed lobster accompanied by mashed sweet potatoes, green beans & potatoes. The only side that was good was the sweet potatoes. The string beans were drowned in grease & garlic. The waiter recommended them but they were sickening. It's morning & I'm still tasting the garlic piled on the few string beans I had!!!

i'm pretty sure I am jaded by the places I have eaten throughout the years(maybe its the 20 lbs i've put on) and it takes a lot to impress me nowadays. server was friendly, it was a monday night, table of 4 , lobster morsels, flash fried pieces of lobster...tasty and not chewy. bone in filet medium rare, tender cut into like butter, sauteed spinach, corn mash( highly recommend) garlic potatoes. wine list was long but seriously jacked up prices, even compared to capital grille, no room for dessert. would I come again?sure but not on my tab.

I think I'm becoming spoiled, with all the great eats in Miami. This restaurant has pretty good food, but the service was kind-of weird. Weird, you say? Well it wasn't terrible & kind of patchy. Our waiter may have been taken aback by the fact that Brent B. told him he looks like The Situation, but he'd heard it before. This appears to be the type of steakhouse with a server, assistant server, food runner, table clearer, and crumber. At least that's what I thought, with the army of wait staff. However, I had to search out someone to refill my drink every time. Since these were not my first drinks of the day, I was probably a little more needy than the others at my table, but come on- there's a ton of you walking around out there. Plus, they mixed up my seat number, so every dish was delivered to my neighbor at the table. Not a deal breaker for me, but just weird. All of the weird service was before Grandma's meltdown about the food & The Situation dealt with that well, at least. I had a stone crab app, split a caesar salad, and a fillet. Pretty basic steakhouse fare, but it just didn't wow me. It was good, but not great. The best part of my meal here was the cheesecake. It's been a long time New York Cheesecake, and I've missed you. I have not been to the original in ATL, but I can just imagine that's since it's kept close to home, it's better.

This is my favorite restaurant in Boca. I recommend ordering oysters to start, and i really enjoy the dover sole and the porter house steak. For sides i normally get the lobster mac, mashed potatoes, cheesy spinach are all fantastic! The wine selection could be a little better but the food makes up for it. The chocolate cake was the cherry on top to a great night!

The steak was tender, the veggies cold but most of all our table for 4 could hardly hear each other due to the noise. It was a Friday night and packed but the lack of good acoustics made our dining experience unpleasant. Will not go there again, there are lots of good steak houses.

I have had the pleasure of dining at Chops Lobster House many times. The food is of the highest quality and is cooked to perfection. The caesar salad served on a chilled plate is the best I have ever had. The burger is freshly ground sirloin, juicy and delicious. I also love the tuna tartar, crab cake and flash fried lobster. I dont love salmon However they cook salmon just the way i like it. Save room for dessert, the banana cream pie is to die for. My review extends to the attentive yet not intrusive service. A special Kudos to server Ron. Thank you for your kind, attentive and respectful service. If you are looking for the best of the best in meat and seafood, then this is the place for you. 2nd time at Chops and we had terrific meal with excellent friendly service . All smiles from the gentleman in the dining area. Great lobster tail and super buttery filet . . They even comped a desert for our anniversary ..so thoughtful ! Great wine Only weird thing is we were seated in the main dining room the 3rd booth from the end near the waiter station and we heard every conversation from the staff and the door opening to the outside was a little annoying.

it was just ok, the waiter was good but i was disappointed in the Dover Sole. (questionable) The mac and lobster which we have had before here and it was always amazing, but this time it was not as good, My wife had to send back her filet. Like i said i have been there before and this visit was no where as good, food quality wise. I could say more, but why. We will go to Abe and Louies next time.

MMMMMM....Chops is tops! We have been a couple of times and are amazed about everything from the ambiance, the excellent service and most of all the quality of the food. My wife and I consider the steaks we have had there to be the best we've eaten in So. Florida. And we also order the lobster macaroni and cheese and the sauteed spinach with a nice bottle of red wine to complete the perfect meal. I was also fortunate to meet the owner of Chops the last time I was there and he was a very charming man. I highly recommend this place as an experience you will not forget!

Great food as usual tonight but service under par. Had to request lobster fork, plate for shells, finger bowl or hot towel after shell fish and spoon for the desert plate that included ice cream. Not offered second cup of coffee until after the bill came. Very disappointed. Restaurant was sold out by 7:30pm on a Tuesday night. Reservations a must.

The service disappoints but the food was very very good. We had a reservation for a party of 8 and it was a special occasion. They were aware. After telling us they were ready for us and the hostess would take us to the table were were still waiting in the tiny entrance 20 minutes later. And the host at the front seemed to avoid us. He glanced a couple of times and said we will seat you now but we still waited. The hostess then stands there and sorts the menus at a snails pace. We are finally seated and it takes another 8-10 minutes (I timed it) for a waiter to even come over and ask us if we would like water or a cocktail. He mentioned being behind and just getting caught up. He seemed to do the best he could but did not seem equipt to handle a party if 8 in addition to the other tables I saw him attending. No one helped him. No one came by to see if everything was ok. We finally got water. Bread came to the table just before the dinner. The only saving grace was that the food was excellent. But for that price you expect outstanding attentive service as well. We even had to ask for wine glasses as the keen sat on the table in the decanter as appetizers were coming to the table. I think our waiter was just overwhelmed. I have never been to a high end restaurant with a large party that does not team up waiters so people have food and service in a reasonable timeframe. Our bill was over $1000 with the wine and cocktails. Much more is expected. This is the last time we will celebrate an event at Chops. There are too many restaurants in the area whose food is as good but the service is also superior. But again everyone was very happy with the food Maybe they aren't set up to handle large parties.

I have been to chops several times and all were good experiences Except last night. Usually the service is excellent and the food Has been what you would expect from a restaurant in this Price range. We barely saw our waiter. Took a while to get Each of our 2 drinks. When my swordfish came I was shocked To see a piece of swordfish the size of a silver Dollar. 1 piece this size. It could have fallen off Someone's shush kebab. I have read some of the Reviews and others mentioned small portions. Just wanted To let people know what to expect. With all the restaurants in Boca Raton Chops will be a last choice for me now.

As good as it gets for me at a steakhouse. The restaurant is just what i like about a true steakhouse-wood paneling-elegant and good service. Noise level was great as compared to their sister resto Lobster Bar Sea Grille which bordered on intolerable. Granted we were there w the early bird crowd but we were promptly greeted and seated. The waiter was informative but unfortunately got lost for a bit after the water. He helped with our wine selection which turned out to be quite excellent. We had appetizers and everyone proclaimed them to be perfectly flavored-tuna tartar was flavored with enough notes not to fall flat-seafood ceviche was balanced correctly with the hint of sweet from the mango-chop salad was made exactly to a diner's request. The star of course were the bone-in ribeye steaks which were probably the best I've ever had at a local steakhouse. And I've tried almost all of them even NY Prime-which usually require some helping of worchestershire or salt. They were cooked to perfection, juicy and seared under their broiler to char the surface. Seasoned without butter as RUTH's Chris with enough salt to enhance the meat. One diner had the pepper filet which she proclaimed to be the "best" albeit it sat on a slice of potato that seemed to be almost an afterthought and probably should be excluded. All of our sides were flavorful and not the typical sides mush. The Lyonaise were crispy-the mushrooms were not oversalted-the parmesan truffle fries not greasy etc etc. We could not even consider desserts but the coffee was also strong and flavorful. Our waiter seemed to then just disappear once the bill was paid-but we were satiated so all was forgiven.

Went there for my cousin's bday. Very classy joint:-) The table was ready on time, usually a plus. The raw clams and oysters were some of the best we have had. The regular lobster bisque was average. To get pieces of lobster scraps in it, you pay extra. It was just like a rich, creamy broth, nothing to order again, especially for the price. They should just raise the price of the regular order by $2 and put lobster in there, like most other places do. Anyways, the porterhouse for 2 was very plentiful and delicious. Asperagus and cream spinach sides were great. As I mentioned before, we said on our opentable reservation that we had a bday in the party and no special desert came. This coupled with the mediocre lobster bisque kept this review from being 5 star. When prices are this high for food, they can afford a desert that costs them $2 their cost, on avg, as a token of appreciation. Would suggest this place, just bring your own desert for birthdays :-)

Love the happy hour. Great hamburger. Best steak dinner in town if u ask me plus best bread basket. Good service too ...Can't go wrong here

As far as steak goes, Chops is the best. Superior to Ruth Chris, Capitol Grill and Mortons. The steak is prepared at temperatures several hundred degrees higher. At first I had my doubts, but the proof was in the delicious flavor and moisture of the meat. Their seafood is also very good and the service superlative. I only rated it a four because of the value. It is $$$$$ expensive, slightly more so than its competitors, but worth it.

I haven't had a meal this good in a long time. 6 of us dined with the early birds 6:30p reservation on a Saturday night and the place was fairly full - duh, it's Florida. By the time we left it was packed with what looked like a scene of gaudy Boca b*tches. I had their amazing bread (filled with onions? Delish!), 8oz. filet cooked perfectly, side of peppercorn sauce, fried lobster tail, onion rings, creamed spinach, potatoes, and white chocolate banana pie...Holy food coma. I was in heaven. Everything was rich and delicious and done with perfection. Highly recommend.

Oh my goodness. Those of you who know me well know that Joe's Stone Crab is my favorite restaurant. I've yet to find anything that compares to Joe's, but my dinner at Chops Lobster Bar sure came close last night! I dined at Chops with my parents and another couple they are friendly with. The other couple appears to dine at Chops quite often (lucky them!) because everyone in the restaurant knew them, including our lovely waitress Carter. Besides the top notch service (the waitress even came to look for me when I stepped out for a bit too long during a phone call!) the food was absolutely incredible! After the tasty bread basket (the onion bread is the way to go) we started our meal with the steamed jumbo alaska red king crab and the chops half jumbo signature lobster tail. After both of these apps this was already a 5 star restaurant in my book. For those of you fried calamari lovers out there you must try the chops half jumbo signature lobster tail, which basically tastes like fried calamari, but oh so much better because it's deep fried lobster, which has been dipped in butter. Healthy...ummm, not quite. Delicious...yes, very! As for my main meal I ordered the jumbo stone crabs...after all, they are only in season for another 10 days! And they were so good that I want to go back and have them everyday for 9 days until they disappear on me. And the perfect side to go with the perfect stone crabs...sweet potato fries! Dessert was just as fabulous as the rest of the meal. My mom and I enjoyed a sorbet with fresh berries that was so refreshing and the bite I had of my stepdad's banana creme pie was out of this world. 24 hours later I'm still in a stone crab food coma, which hopefully will hold me over until stone crab season starts again in October...

One of the best seafood restaurants I have been to in Florida.. Great ambiance.. Great service. & the food is spectacular.. I went on a Monday night and they still had a full house. This is an ideal place to celebrate special occasions. Sunday through Thursday - they have the special Chef Tasting menu that includes a 3-course meal for $49 or $42 for a 2-course (without dessert). I took my boyfriend out for his 30th Birthday and we really enjoyed every bite, from appetizers to dessert.. We both picked lobster as I figured that would be their specialty and it was beyond fresh and delicious, plated beautifully. They even brought out a candle with the dessert with a Happy Birthday sign when I briefly mentioned on the phone that it was for a Birthday.. I absolutely recommend this place - if you want to enjoy good seafood in Florida and highly suggest reservations..

EVERYONE RAVES about this place. This was a belated Valentines dinner. The food was good, but the service was awful! When you sit for an hour and have your main course brought out as your appetizer, then have your appetizer brought out before your companion gets his main course it kinda puts you off. I asked for escargot for appetizer and lobster bisque for main course. First they brought the Bisque with out the lobster (which we paid extra for) as my appetizer. Ok, so they re-did it with the lobster and I ate it as the appetizer. It was very good Then they brought my escargot and did not bring my companion his main course. I did want to have my escargot and then watch my companion eat his meal while I sat watching. They took the escargot back, made a fresh one and brought it out with my dinner partners meal. This is now 1 1/2 hours since we arrived. At one point I had to ask another server for a fresh drink as our waiter was MIA for quite some time. The server realized he did a poor job and comped us a dessert and and drink, but such horrible service puts a damper on the experience. My companion had the New York strip, which was cooked to perfection. Not what I hoped the experience would be.

The service here is really good and the restaurant is beautiful. The crowd varies and it is an interesting time. There are plenty of things to look at, to say the least. There is a full bar, nice wine list...the menu is good but the portions are minuscule for the price. Whatever you order will taste good, for the few bites it takes to eat it, but this is not a place you'll leave full unless youre ready to order a lot...It's pricey, like everywhere else in its league. It's good for what it is but I've been to many fine restaurants and this one is just not up there with my favorites. Capital Grille is much nicer, as is Ruth Chris....I even have a better time at Max's.

I have been here for happy hours and apps and it has been great. Saturday night my friend and I took clients here for dinner. It was packed. The service and food was average. Do not order the steak tar tar, very bland. The tuna tar tar much better. Our customers who are world travelers had the soft shell crab which they said they have had much better. The seafood dish that I and my friend had was good, but not memorable. The lobster risotto was above average.. so if you are a foodie you may want to rethink this place. I would give it another try just to see if perhaps they had an off night.. curious to see how it will fare in the season when it's really busy.

What am I missing? Never had a memorable meal here. Thought the lobster medallions were too fried, reminded me of Long John Silvers. Great decor and service, and the mashed corn was terrific, but definitely overpriced and overhyped in my opinion. A good place to take people who like to be impressed by expensive steakhouses.

Go to Trulucks! This is the worst place! I just walked out. Got seated on the patio waited 30 minutes for service! No one even came to our table. Walked out, went to TRULUCKS got seated in in less than s minute waited on right away and there foods was as good.

Today was a Lobster day! Lobster roll for lunch and was still craving lobster so came for the $49 tasting menu (sun-thurs only). My mom got the filet mignon. Starting with the pluses of our meal -- seafood chowder was good, very thick and creamy. Lobster was also solid but after growing up eating fresh lobsters in Okinawa it doesn't compare. Mixed 'shroom side was ok but pretty greasy. The dessert, however, was in a completely different league. My eyes lit up immediately when I saw the beautiful presentation of my molten chocolate souffle. Three cute raspberries adorned a broad dark chocolate streak that ended in a scoop of the MOST AMAZING pistachio ice cream ever! It was topped with a toffee crunch cookie. The pistachio ice cream... oh my god. Words fail me. I used to think raspberry sauce, vanilla ice cream, and molten chocolate cake = perfect trio, but I may have to rethink the vanilla ice cream part. Now for the negatives :( ... service was kinda snooty, but expected of a bustling restaurant in Mizner. My biggest qualm with this place was the steak. It was without exaggeration the worst piece of filet mignon I've ever had in my life. I wasn't aware that lukewarm and charred black was their definition of 'medium'. And I usually enjoy dry-aged steaks, but this one tasted like it had been sandstorm-dried in the Saharan desert over the course of a particulary arid summer. Stick with the lobster and dessert.

My wife and I almost always stop in at Chops when we visit her parents in Boca several times a year. The service is usually fantastic, and the food even better. Her parents swear by the place. However, our most recent visit was our last. The host, Robert, was condescending and cold. We waited at the bar for almost an hour and were only seated after I checked on our table, 20 minutes after we were told a table would be ready. Waits are normal and expected at restaurants like Chops. And, I enjoy the people watching and scotch at the bar. But, when we were finally seated it was hard not to notice that a full one-third of the tables were available. And, at 9:15 on a Thursday in Boca, I can't believe they were being held for reservations. All in all, the host and unnecessary wait made us feel unwelcome and we left without ordering.* If you visit frequently, I am certain they treat you well. If you are not able to reach "regular" status, for whatever reason, I suggest you eat at any of the other fine establishments in the area. Our experience at Truluck's that evening was top notch. *Note: My wife did not agree with this decision.

Had a nice Sunday evening at Chops for some relaxing time...after getting lost on borrowed gps, and one dead cell phone, I finally found my way and met my friend at Chops. We didnt make reservations, so we asked for the bar area. Happy hour is from 5 -8. By then, I was ready for a drink. We also shared a crab cake, lobster roll and thai chilli calamarie...loved the french fries. the meal was awesome. The service was friendly. Can't wait to try the $49 tasting menu.

What a bizarre concept! 90's cover band blaring in the bar while the elegant dining room was filled with dark rich wood and tile ceilings. We were greeted at the door with a cool reception while at the same time, another party of 2 walking into the bar had the host turn from us to rush to shake one of their hands while the other in the same party stood with his hand outstretched that went ignored. We were seated with no wine list (had to request one) which we found a bit strange for a steak house. Server was friendly, server assistants didn't look up as they were clearing our courses. Wine list was reasonable as were the entrees. We had 2, 2 lb Maine lobsters, a salad and 3 drinks for under $200. Server didn't check back with us when our entrees were delivered and apologized at the end of the evening stating, "Sorry I didn't check on you but it looked like you were enjoying your dinners". It felt like Olive Garden (or worse) service in a fine dining steak house. It wasn't bad, but didn't match the decor or menu. As we let ourselves out, a man in a Chef's coat rushed the door and said good night as he pulled the door shut. The host and another server were seated at a table outside the restaurant and said good night as well as we walked away from another chain restaurant we won't be going back to. There was obviously no managerial presence that evening. I haven't yet been, but the other person in my party said Jake's Stone Crab next door is much better.

Superlative, not outrageous or exaggerated. We dined here on Saturday night. It was busy but service was superb. I had a Kansas City strip special, dry-aged for eons, beautifully prepared and tender. My wife had the extraordinary lamb chops, advertised as porterhouse lamb chops. These are loin chops, the most tender lamb cut, succulent, juicy and indescribably good. The sides were plentiful and tasty. We adored the corn mash and the brussels sprout leaves with mushrooms. The wine list was extensive and also quite expensive. As good as any New York steakhouse in my opinion. A classy but somewhat noisy atmosphere without reeking of testosterone and masculinity. The consummate experience for the steak or chop lover. I highly recommend.

I've been to this particular Chops a number of times and have finally solidified my opinion of the place. You're in for good food and good service with a high enough probability of a head-scratching moment to detract from the experience. Some of those head scratching incidents include: - getting two separate decanters with food remnants in them...one is too many. - waiting 15 minutes past our reservation to be seated in a mostly empty dining room. - having a beautifully cooked steak arrive lukewarm. I think this place needs to starting hiring better qualified hosts (keep the scantily clad hostesses, please) and dishwashing staff.

this place has some of the best steaks i have ever had, prepared in a high degree broiler with a pittsburgh char! Extremely tender, great wine list and excellent service... vegetables and sides are all ala carte but are to die for..

Ok this was my second time here and I figured I would write a little bit about my experience. When we arrived for a 6:30pm reservation the place wasn't that crowded. I wasn't sure why we were ushered to the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. Sometimes that can be a good thing but not always and tonight it was not such a good thing. I ordered an order of stone crabs and thought they looked great while I was staring at them from our table. I could see the sous chef who was in charge of cracking the crabs. As I sat there watching him cracking them and smelling them I realized that this wasn't going to be the best crab I have ever eaten and I was right. He had cracked and thrown out a few crabs before plating my order. I had already made up my mind that I wasn't going to be happy with this dish and when they were served to me I did the same thing the sous chef did... I smelled them. Sure enough they were gone in a heart beat. Why would you serve smelly crabs? Maybe I wouldn't of been so fast to send them back if I didn't witness this whole process. We then had a wedge salad which was fine, nothing great. Then we ordered the 40oz. porterhouse steak. When the steak arrived it certainly didn't look like a 40oz steak but it was pretty good. Really nothing special. We had to order another steak to make up for the lack of meat on the 40oz. porterhouse. The rib eye looked like it had more meat on it than the so called 40oz. We had a side of parmesan truffle fries and a side of lobster mac cheese. The mac and cheese was no better than a box of velvetta mac and cheese and there was very little lobster in it too. For dessert we had key lime pie and some truffle brownie. The truffle brownie was better than the key lime pie. I have to say this meal was just ok. My husband seems to think that the highlight of the meal was the bread basket. I have to say they did have great little pumpernickel onion rolls . There are way too many good steak houses in Boca Raton to go to. This one is probably not the best one but it sure was packed when we left. Maybe it was just me thinking the meal was mediocre but honestly it was nothing special.

I am reaching out in regards to a horrific experience I had at Chops Boca Raton restauraunt yesterday, November 29th. To begin the meal we sat down at the table for 20 minutes before being approached. A polite Indian man who was running the main dining room noticed that we were consistently looking for a waitor. He approached us to take our drink order and told us he was going to get our waitor. Upon finishing our appetizers a young woman at our table, my son's girlfriend, asked for a fork because hers had fallen on the floor. The new fork never came. On the third time asking the waitor, José, for the fork he snapped at her and said I know ma'am I requested one for you. The young women at the table politely asked jose not to speak to her that way. It all gets worse from here. My wife ordered her second drink which 20 minutes later still hadn't arrived. When we realized the second drink was never coming we reordered it along with the rest of the tables second round. When the main course arrived 2 of the 5 potatoes came out ice cold as well as a requested medium steak cooked well done. When telling the waiter to please have this corrected we also requested to speak to the matirede. The Indian floor coordinator, Monroe the maitrede, and a blonde women all surrounded our table making a mortifying unecessary scene. The worst part of the night has yet to come. When the bill arrived I placed my Chops staus card as well as my personal debit card into the check cardholder slot. When receiving the check back I found only my status card, my debit card went missing. We had the entire wait staff with flash lights in hand looking for the debit card. After 15 minutes went by with no success the blonde woman whom I believe may be the general manager insisted that I didn't put my debit card in there and that I should check my car. The waitor, José, agreed with this as well. My 22 year old daughter who runs customer service for a high end retailer saw how this was being handled and took charge. My daughter as well as the Indian man went through all garbage cans and bill folds at the pay station. She continued on to ask them to pull up the two previous and two after paid for meals to see if the card was brought to their table by mistake. When the entire team ignored her request my daughter asked jose to show her exactly where he went when he took responsibility of the card upon leaving the table. Jose lead my daughter, retracing his steps, into the dish washing room where my daughter, not jose, lifted rubber wet mats in an attempt to find the card. My daughter apologized to the men washing the dishes wearing all white for interrutung their routine. Upon further look my daughter found the card underneath a garbage can in the corner of the dish washing room of your establishment. It was in a pile of water. My daughter picked up the card to have it ripped out of her hands by jose. My daughter asked three times to have the card back before jose would give it up. On the third time asking for the card back jose threw it at my daughter and said here you go ma'am and walked out of the dish washing room where he left my daughter. This was a Friday night of a holiday weekend where my kids flew in from New York City. You can never give me back the night that was taken away in the short time that we had to spend together. My entire family left the restauraunt feeling as through we were treated as criminals. My daughter requested that I explicitly tell you the details of this night so you as the owner can appropriately share with all team members to ensure that this NEVER happens to another family. This is the only reason for this email and i wanted you to be aware of how the establishment which bears your name is being mismanaged. I hope you had a nice holiday weekend, this experience ruined mine.

I debated heavily between 4 and 5 stars as this is not an "inventive, creative" restaurant. However, in evaluating it, this is a traditional steakhouse and they are not going for the neuvo creative food, they are going for the perfect steak. I split the porterhouse for 2 which was perfectly cooked, cut off the bone for easy splitting with just enough meat left on the bone to enjoy gnawing on the bone at the end of the meal. The veal jus was delicious and the steak was perfectly seasoned, not too much salt. For sides, I had the onion rings, which were great, a nice breading and not overly greasy, the mac and cheese, which was extremely rich but extremely delicious and the mushrooms, which, unlike many steakhouses, were not soaking in butter but rather tasted roasted. The oysters were fresh and well shucked. The caesar salad had a nice, light, fresh dressing with a perfect balance of anchovy and garlic. The wine list was extensive and ran the gamut in price - it was refreshing to see a steakhouse with reasonably priced wines both by the glass and the bottle as well as top end wines without overly marked-up prices. The service was great - for a Monday night, I was surprised that the restaurant was full yet the service did not suffer at all. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable, aware of the little things, such as keeping the water glasses full and filling our wine glasses, without being intrusive. The decor is nice, dark rich woods, a traditional steakhouse feel. Simply put, I had no complaints about the meal or the service and will surely be returning.

The pan-fried lobster tail morsels are unbelievable and a MUST have for everyone to try. Also, if you like a light red wine, try the PrimaVoce SuperTuscan - served by the glass. It is really nice, but hard to find. Very pricey - bar can get crowded and noisy at times. Service is very good.

Ok-- if you've been to Atlanta youshould already know about the Buckhead Life Group restaurants--Chops, Panos and Pauls, Fish Market, Bluepoint, Pricci, etc. Chops is one of the top 3 steakhouses in HotAtlanta and now should be the top steak house in Boca. It is a minature version that combines the Steakhouse and Lobster bar from the much larger Chops in Atlanta. The steak is better than Mortons, seasoned and seared, but not overly scorched like NY Prime, or sizzling in butter. The seafood tower appetizer is fantastic and the signature dish from Panos and Pauls-- fried Lobster tail has to be sampled by the table to be believed. The service is always outstanding at the Buckhead Life establishments, and the quality is worth the price--(think Mortons, NY Prime)

I eat at Chops at least two times a month...to me it's the best steak in the Boca area. You can pay more and hang out with the high rollers at many Boca area Steak houses, but Chops gets my vote for service, food and drinks and yea you will see a few high rollers in the bar. If your looking for a good steak, solid drinks and nice people I would recommend Chops.

I love steak. I have been to most of the steakhouses in the area. NY Prime, Morton's, Abe & Louis', Ruth's Chris, etc. I must say that the porterhouse that I had at Chops was the BEST that I have had! I really would love to try the seafood, but I don't see how I can ever pass on their steaks! The only thing that stops me from giving the five stars, and this may not be fair is that it is quite pricey.

We dined here for a family birthday and I thought the food and service were very good. There was a fried lobster tail appettizer that my wife and I shared. The steaks are served mostly a la carte and you order the side dishes. I thought all of their dishes were prepared much differently and uniquely than other similiar steak houses. This included their hash browns, cream corn and salads. A premier steakhouse located off SE Mizner Blvd and on the same street as Royal Palm Place. There is valet parking in the front and parking off the side streets. A delicious selection of steak and seafood for business dinning or a special family event with your grandparents or parents since many of us have family in Palm Beach County. Dinner reservations are mandatory since it just opened in 2007.

Great food, mediocre service - Escargots (first time!) and calamari appetizers were great. The Maine lobster scampi style was delicious as was the dry-aged NY Strip. Cooked perfectly! Followed it up with a chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream which was a great end to our meal. Things get expensive REALLY fast, but the food was wonderful. My only gripe is less-than-speedy service, but the experience was great nonetheless.

Something's wrong, as service was non-existent. Despite both a host and hostess, both were too busy with their friends to greet us. Host reluctantly showed us to our table, but failed to offer a wine list. Neither our server nor any other person ever inquired about our food. When it was tip time, our server said he saw we were enjoying ourselves so much that he didn't want to interrupt to ask how things were. We paid the bill. On leaving not one person bid us good night or asked us to return. Host and hostess were outside sharing a drink. For the money and locale, we were entitled to a gracious evening. Something's wrong. Either there's no training, or management just doesn't care.

Somewhat pricey - but that doesn't bother the "black Bentley" crowd. Crowd tends to be older Boca characters. Steaks are good and lobster morsels are nice. The back room is a cavernous windowless room with tiled ceiling - it doesn't work for me. Outdoor seating area is lousy with an "isolated" feeling - seems like an afterthought. Like most of Boca, rooms tend to clear out after 9:00 pm...
